What Reagan would tell the GOP debaters

We’re headed into debate season in a few months…

And normally I look forward to watching these talented and smart people have at it on live TV.

It’s supposed to be fun to watch the nation’s smartest minds, each representing the main political parties go head to head.

But, for the 2nd election in a row it seems we’re going to get nursing home Joe and 4 year old Donald Trump.

I’ve already written about how I feel about these two morons so I won’t go into it again here but I did want to share a couple quotes from an article I clipped during the 2020 debates.

I only clipped the article so I can’t even remember the publication but it was written by a guy named Kenneth Khachigian.

Bad ass name, ain’t it?

During his acceptance speech after winning the election back in 1980 Reagan had this to say:

The Democratic party is marked by pessimism, fear and limits, whereas the Republican Party offers hope confidence and growth.

The left sees people only as members of groups, always offering them grandiose – and unfulfilled – promises.

Republicans serve all the people of America as individuals.

And, my absolute favorite one below. This is the kind of verbiage that made Ronald Reagan one of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had…

Those whom government intended to help discovered a cycle of dependency that could not be broken. Government became a drug, providing temporary relief, but addiction as well.

I do not like the options for President this year any more than I did in 2020. But, the parties for which we get to vote are still largely the same.

One acts as a drug, upon which we become reliant and addicted.

The other one sets up a rough frame work of rules for us and then gets the hell outta the way.

The latter is the one I’m for.
